Woodlings come to life in new book

New releases from Sixth Element this Easter have included the fantastic colourful tale of the Woodlings who live in the North York Moors National Park.
The Woodlings and the Wish Dragon by Sue Wilkinson has inspired a huge new dragon sculpture at The Moors National Park Centre, Danby.
Daniel Moncrieff, Head of Education and Youth Engagement at the North York Moors National Park Authority, said: “It is really exciting to read the finalised Woodlings and the Wish Dragon book, with its imaginative illustrations. This Easter we have already had hundreds of visitors to the site, spotting the Woodling tiny houses created in our adjacent woodland.”
The book, illustrated by Sixth Element’s Graeme Wilkinson, is being used as the basis for a new outdoor literacy activity for primary schools, which is proving very popular with teachers and children visiting the National Park.

Author In The Spotlight: Will Nett

Will Nett, author of My Only Boro and Billy No Maps, is an elusive, itinerant Francophile traveller, still seized by the vice-like grip of Yorkshireness. Lurching into middle-age with aplomb, he’s occupied most of the time with books, bikes and backpacking, inking, drinking, and thinking. And cheese. Turns a card, rolls the bones, pops a cork. Nobody’s perfect. He’s down to earth, still employs the same butler as he did before he was published and is exhaustively obsessed with Hank Williams and Johan Cruyff.
